Zoya: Zuza

 I’ve been wearing a lot of blues lately, and Zuza was an untried I hadn’t gotten around to yet. The pretty watery, mermaid-y blue is obviously something I was drawn to.

Sparkle-y aqua green

Zuza is a fun manicure. It’s a pretty, medium toned aqua with a touch of green. The finish on this polish was interesting to me. The silver shimmer read almost as a foil to me, but seemed to be just a little short of the full on sparkle that a foil has. I’m not going to say this polish is the most unique, but it was fun to wear and great for summer.

Easy, smooth application

In typical Zoya fashion, this polish applied very easily. The formula was smooth and I had no coverage issues. I used two thick coats and everything turned out well.

Zoya: Tracie

I was looking forward to the polishes I ordered on that 3 for $15  Zoya promotion from a few weeks back. Although a lot of summer collections are very predictable, I liked the look of the blues and greens in this seasons summer collection so I snagged them. But I was pretty disappointed in Tracie.

Pale, almost pastel, metallic green shimmer

I was a little apprehensive of this polish once I saw it in person; it was light, almost pastel in tone and didn’t really carry the “oomph” I want from a green polish. It’s a bit soft and tame for my taste. It’s also a hard color to describe. It’s not mint, but it’s still light and yellow toned. It’s more of a “spring” green with a fine, dense shimmer that reads as a metallic finish on the nail. Overall, Tracie isn’t very flattering (and I have warm toned skin) and the elements in the polish don’t work together in a way to make it interesting or pretty.

Very bad formula

However, the real issue with this polish was the formula. I honestly don’t think I have ever said that a Zoya polish had an unbearable formula, but this one does. I was almost shocked. The formula was so sticky and goopy that it had the consistency of a very old polish. It was difficult to spread on the nail, which caused issues with the manicure being even. I used three coats, which gave me an okay overall look, but I was not happy with the formula and application by any means. I was very surprised since Zoya usually delivers buttery, smooth cremes and easily applied foils like pros.

I was out of town for the weekend last week, so I apologize for the lack of posting! I hope you all are doing well and enjoying the summer weather that is finally here.

This is the second polish that a friend was sweet enough to bring me back from Japan. As you all are well aware of, I love everything blue. And this dreamy turquoise had me from the jump.

Creamy, dreamy turquoise

This color isn’t the most unique and many of us that collection polish have numerous variations of it, but I think many of us are drawn to it. It’s beautiful. Though this creme polish leans a touch more green (to me and on my skintone), it has a nice balance of blue and green. It’s a perfect summer color and I have loved admiring this color on my nails.

Easy, smooth application

This polish has a super shiny finish, since it’s a half creme half jelly hybrid. The formula on it was great; super easy and quick to apply. It also dried very quickly. What I’ve been most surprised with regarding this polish, is how well it has worn on me. Polishes usually chip within the first day on me, but I’ve had minimal tipwear after 3 days. Always a welcomed surprise!

OPI: Damone Roberts 1968

My green polish selection is one of my favorites, so choosing one for the holiday weekend wasn’t an easy choice. But then I remembered that I don’t think I had ever blogged about this polish personally. When they re-released this polish a couple years ago, I had to have it immediately. It may not look that unique, but the tone is almost perfect.

Gorgeous sea foam-y green with just enough yellow undertones

Damone Roberts 1968 may look like a common sea foam-y green creme polish. Which a lot of us adore, but companies release these types of colors all the time so usually there isn’t really anything too special about them. But this one has just the right amount of yellow undertones in the base color to make it very pretty AND flattering to wear. There’s no lobster hands here with this light green. I have a lot of yellow in my skin and this polish looks wonderful on.

Slightly streaky formula

The only thing about this polish that isn’t perfect is the formula. It’s not awful, but it is a bit jelly-ish in consistency so I think that is what leads to the issue. It’s not overly pigmented and it is a bit streaky. I used three coats to even out any streaks and to get full opacity. My only tip would be to apply thicker coats and let them dry to really get saturation and pigmentation. But it’s totally worth it, I love this polish.

OPI: Jade Is The New Black & Zoya: Apple

This happened to turn out to be an early St. Patrick’s Day manicure apparently. Which I didn’t even realize until my boss said to me, “Hey, you’ve got St. Patrick’s Day nails!” So, I’m deciding to roll with it. Green is my favorite polish to wear anyway.

Green jade creme with a touch of blue and light green and yellow sparkle-y sponged tips

I had Jade Is The New Black on for a couple of days. It’s a cult classic green creme with just a touch of blue. I didn’t love this polish when it first came out, I’m not sure what I was thinking, but adore it now. I looked into my untried drawer and found Apple sitting in it and decided it sponge my tips with it. The light green and yellow foil looks great sparkling at the tips.

No issues with application here

I didn’t have a problem with JITNB during application. It actually went on smooth as butter. It was also very opaque and pigmented. A pretty impressive formula now that I think about it. I used two coats and was good. Apple went onto the tips with no issues. I find foils are the easiest (and most forgiving) polishes to sponge with. Just a dab and you’re good to go.

Revlon: Zealous

I’m a sucker for polishes of this color. Which is why I couldn’t resist it when I saw it at the grocery store the other day. I don’t really own any Revlon polishes, but this was a great buy.

Zealous is a green tinged yellow polish, with really pretty micro-shimmer throughout. It’s definitely more yellow than green, but has a nice balance. A chartreuse hue. Even though my skin has a lot of yellow in it, it doesn’t look bad against my skin. I would though, like to see this color on a cooler skin tone. I think it would look really cool!

Easy application, not the best wear time

This polish was a bit streaky on the first coat, but it evened out by the second. I did use three coats just to make sure everything was even and completely opaque. I didn’t have any issues with the formula, but I really loved this polish and wish the wear time was better. But then again, I never get good wear times from any polishes. I’ll just have to use it again soon :)

Wet N Wild Megalast: I Need A Refresh-Mint

Guilty. I feel guilty for being unable to post all week long. I’m sorry! But I’m back with a polish that I really enjoyed wearing.

I posted a couple of these Wet N Wild Megalasts awhile back. But since then they have revamped the bottles (which I think look really great by the way) and added new colors. This one is definitely the most interesting one of the bunch.

Turquoise-y blue creme

This polish looks a lot like Chanel’s Nouvelle Vague. The tone is very similar to me. But this polish is a creme with no shimmer. I think a lot of people love this almost sea-foam greenish blue color and it has been done a lot and often, but this polish has just a touch more blue in it and it makes it really beautiful. It’s almost a robin’s egg blue. For me it’s completely worth having and reminds me of summer. It definitely cheered me up when I looked down at my hands.

Super easy application and great formula

I was impressed with the Megalasts formula during my first run through with the line, and still am. It was smooth and full of pigment. I had no issues and only needed two coats for opacity. Even though Wet n Wild is a very affordable drugstore nail polish line, I think this line looks more upscale and performs very well in terms of formula, application, and wear. Totally worth the $ 2 !

Sonia Kashuk: Sugar Rush & OPI: Fiercely Fiona

I’m almost back to feeling 100% after being on my death bed. I have a looming cough that won’t quit, but I’m hoping that will subside eventually. Sooner rather than later of course.

Fiercely Fiona is one of my beloved polishes. I adore the green-y yellow hue that is oddly interesting yet approachable and cheery.  I needed something to cheer me up so I pulled out Fiercely Fiona, but also wanted something clean and fresh. That’s where Sugar Rush came in.

Natural pink with a fun green-y yellow accent

Sugar Rush is a really pretty natural, slightly sheer blush pink. It takes a bit of time to dry, which is annoying, but I really like this polish. It just brightens everything up. A “your nails but better” type of polish. Fiercely Fiona is from the Shrek collection. A chartreuse creme to me. A green-y yellow that is fun, but still interesting and a bit sophisticated since it could be deemed as a bit ugly. I really like this color combination and manicure. It’s something different.

Accent nails

I used two coats of Sugar Rush. This polish takes a bit of time to dry, which is annoying. But I did apply two thicker coats to get a more opaque look from it. For Fiercely Fiona, I also used two coats. This polish applies just a touch streaky on first coat, but evens out with no problem by the second. And wish no drying issues at all.

Rescue Beauty Lounge: No More War

I didn’t mean to disappear for so many days. My internet died over the weekend and I had to new a new modem, set it up, and blah blah blah.

But I’m back with one of my favorites! I actually haven’t blogged about or worn in a very long time. It was nice to see this gorgeous, unique polish back in action.

Buttery smooth, yellow toned green

This is a polish that you either love or hate. I find a lot of people who love polish or collect nail polish and find it difficult to find interesting, unique colors for their collections tend to like this more. No More War is an olive green creme, with a bit of yellow and brown in it. It’s cool to me because you can tell it’s a murky green, but it’s almost neutral. It’s one of those edgy, borderline ugly colors. Which I like. And I think after applied, most people would actually like it. Whether you love it or hate it, it’s interesting for sure.

Smooth, easy application

I found this polish to have a great formula. And this is something that is pretty common among RBL polishes. It went on very smooth and easy. It was also very pigmented and I had minimal streaking. I only needed two coats for full coverage. My only application tip would be to pay a little extra attention while applying, because RBL polish (to me) is thinner and can pool by your cuticles.

I need to really make an effort to buy more RBL polishes. The almost $ 20 price tag is a bit steep, but it’s a brand I really respect and want more of Ji’s interestingly beautiful colors!

Zoya: Maisie (over Zoya: Breesi)

I think I ordered the new Zoya flakies the day they were released. I love flakies that are cool toned specifically, however, the pink (Chloe) in the collection also made its way into my basket because it’ll look gorgeous in a summer manicure.

I knew I was going to want to layer Maisie for this manicure, so I picked a complimenting blue. Breesi worked out perfectly. This manicure is stunning and screams “ocean” to me.

Sparkling blue, green, yellow flakies

Maisie, to me, really seems like the flakie version my beloved Zoya Charla. It’s got the same colors going on (blue, green, yellow) just in a different way. I love it. What I also love is the amount of flakies that are dispersed per coat. It’s a ton! They are packed into the polish and the brush so you get a major impact without countless layers. Just look at how fun and pretty this combination is. I like how it’s layered in this manicure because it gives just the slightest jelly / squishy effect. Water-y almost.

Prefect application

I had no formula issues with this polish. As mentioned, it was packed with flakies on every layer and they applied evenly per swipe; they didn’t collect just at the base or top of the nail. I ended up doing two coats over one coat of Bressi as a base. Everything dried quickly and looks great.

I can’t wait to use the rest of these “Fleck Effect” polishes.

PS – Has anyone noticed how Zoya has started to cheap out on their shipping packaging? They used to ship their polishes in polish holders in a box (which I loved), but now they arrive taped and wrapped up in padding in an envelope. Come on, guys!
